Claire Cotton has experience helping adolescents and adults transition through some of life’s bigger challenges through individual counseling and group workshops. This includes being an LGBT+ ally as a counselor. Graduating high school or college, becoming an empty nester or
retiring are all major life transitions that Claire can help you with on your journey.

Claire works primarily with solution-focused therapy and always puts the client’s needs and wellbeing first through patience, empathy, humor and grace. The reason solution-focused therapy is used is it is not your normal psychotherapy! A cutting edge treatment (developed in the 1980’s), it’s one of the few approaches that is evidence based rather than theory driven, which means, research shows it works for all age groups and across demographics, especially for major life transitions. Claire also blends DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), client centered therapy, narrative therapy and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) into her approach depending on what best suits the client.

As a certified yoga instructor since 2010, she understands the mind-body connection and may utilize breathing techniques, meditation and progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) to help treat anxiety amongst other mental health issues. She also has a passion for working with those who have lost a loved one and walking with that person through the grieving process. She likes to stay abreast of the most current research affecting her clients to ensure they receive the highest quality care while providing a comfortable and caring environment.
