Treatment Approach

Types of Therapy

  • Person-center therapy focuses on the client, allowing the client to process thoughts and feelings in an environment of non-judgement and conditional positive regards. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
  • Cognitive behavior therapy stresses the role of thinking in influencing a person’s sense of well-being and in controlling their mental health. The cognitive-behavioral approach maintains that emotions and behaviors are directly linked to cognitive processes, so that the way a person thinks about himself/herself or having the world determines how she or he feels and acts.
  • Humanistic development therapy emphasizes looking at the whole individual and stresses concepts such as free will, self-efficacy, and self-actualization. As opposed to concentrating on an individual’s dysfunction, humanistic development therapy helps individuals focus on their potential and stresses the importance of growth and self-actualization
