About

Kimberly West is an experienced counselor who has provided mental health care for people of a variety of ages and life stages, mainly through non-profits. She received her B.S. at Dallas Baptist University and her master’s degree in counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She focuses on the connection between emotional, physical, and spiritual health using a person-centered approach. She strives to create a safe and welcoming environment, especially for those clients who may be hesitant or unsure about counseling. Some of the therapies Kimberly employs are Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Brainspotting. For clients who desire Christian Counseling, she incorporates Christian beliefs, values, and practices into the counseling process. Kimberly has a passion for helping people heal and thrive in life and relationships.

Who are you are best positioned to serve?
Individual clients age 16 and beyond who with support and encouragement are ready to work on themselves.
What areas you feel are your biggest strengths?
I think my biggest strengths are listening and accepting clients where they are, while also challenging them to grow.
What's your favorite part about being a therapist?
I love it when a client reports experiencing improvement in their life as a result of the work they have done in counseling. When the changes they have made are positively impacting their overall sense of well-being and their daily living.
What can clients expect?
I want clients to feel heard and understood, and to walk away from our work together feeling empowered to change the aspects of their lives that are not working and to enrich those that are functioning well.
Why did you join Curis?
Curis is a place where I can practice my belief that mind, body, and spirit are integrated and all parts of a person need tending to for a person to experience a healthy sense of well-being.
