Shannon Purtell

Counseling for Anger & Lifestyle Management: Solutions for Problematic Anger

Created By Shannon Purtell, MA, LPC, NCC, CART

Shannon Purtell has created a group designed to help those with problematic anger develop the skills to not only cope with their anger but grow from it. This group is a 12-week ongoing program that aims to pinpoint each client’s trigger points and anger struggles and address them head-on. Each week we cover a different chapter with topics ranging from communication styles, problem-solving, implementing change, escalation of anger, and so on. When you have completed the 12-week course, you will receive a certificate of completion.

Our Anger Management group meets each week on Monday evenings at 6 PM. It is run by a licensed professional counselor (Alex Wade, MS, LPC-Intern – supervised by Delisa Deutsch, MS, LPC-S). Clients also have the opportunity to complete this course one-on-one, which offers more flexibility and quicker completion times.

This group course is open to anyone ages 18 and up and is recognized by the court systems in multiple surrounding counties.

The cost per session of the group is $45
The cost per individual session is $75

Welcome to our Parenting Skills & Support Group! This is a hybrid class, meaning that there will be times you learn parenting skills from the facilitator and times when you will learn helpful suggestions (or offer helpful suggestions) from others. Please note: this is not a training class. Thus, you will not receive any certifications or abilities to teach or train others. In addition, we may use other resources (such as YouTube videos and Therapist Aid worksheets) in order to enhance the understanding of your parenting knowledge. Participation is not a guarantee of results.

GOALS OF THE PARENT GROUP:

The goal of the Parenting Skills & Support Group is to:
-Strengthen the relationship between you and your child
-Increase healthy and effective habits of communication
-Encourage, empower, and instill confidence within yourself and your child
-Learn effective ways of correcting and redirecting inappropriate or unwanted behaviors

ATTENDENCE: Regular attendance is not required but strongly encouraged, as it is necessary for continuity. Missing more than two sessions during the group greatly reduces the benefits that the group offers. Group sessions are held weekly and last approx. 50 minutes in length.
