About

Krissy has a desire to create a safe, non-judgmental, empathic environment during the counseling process. Krissy truly believes when people feel comfortable to become vulnerable and share their stories, then true healing, strength, and freedom can happen to move on from past and present hurts.

Krissy is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist who can work with clients on a whole range of traumas or adverse emotional experiences. Krissy also pulls from a variety of modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy to assist in processing down past and present events that may be holding us back from realizing our full potential.

Krissy is originally from the heart of America, Ohio. Having overcome traumatic events from her childhood and then realizing she often took the role of helper with her friends and family, she understood she had a gift that she could use to help other people overcome their own personal struggles.

Krissy graduated in 2002 from UNC Charlotte with a BA in Psychology and then went on to gain her MA in Counseling from Liberty University in 2006. After completing several hours toward her supervised counseling, Krissy realized she had a heart to serve and help people internationally, so she boarded a plane in 2010 and lived in London, England for nearly 9 years.

While in London, Krissy was accredited with the British Association of Counselors and Psychotherapists (2015-2017) and worked with a variety of people from many different cultures and backgrounds. Having returned to America in 2018, Krissy set to work establishing her counseling practice back in the US.

Krissy’s work has included issues around anxiety, domestic violence, stress, depression, life adjustments, LGBTQ+, substance use disorders, relationship issues, young adult issues, and working through cross-cultural adjustments. Krissy has practiced in a variety of settings such as domestic violence shelters, residential treatment centers, outpatient treatment centers, and private practice.

Krissy enjoys traveling and learning about new people and cultures. You can often find her sitting in a coffee shop, reading a book, or meeting up with friends. She loves to discover new “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants with great food (recommendations welcome!). She has a huge appreciation for hiking, art, history, and music which all feed her soul. But her biggest passion is investing in people and relationships and caring for those around her.

Who are you are best positioned to serve?
The clients that I am best positioned to serve would be adults struggling with a whole host of stressors from present, everyday life to childhood traumas that are continuing to impact them today. I’ve helped clients through life transitions and areas of grief, whether it is the loss of a loved one or ending up in an unexpected place in your life. These struggles can be seen through symptoms of depression, anxiety, coping with substances, or unhealthy relationship dynamics that continue to occur. Having lived overseas myself and being a part of the LGBTQ community I am also positioned to help those working through the unique stressors of these circumstances as well.
What areas you feel are your biggest strengths?
My biggest strength is being an empathetic, warm, non-judgemental listener. I appreciate the uniqueness of everyone’s story and feel there is great power in allowing someone to be seen and heard. While also possessing the knowledge and skillset of therapeutic tools to help move clients in the direction they want to go in their lives.
What's your favorite part about being a therapist?
My favorite part about being a therapist is being present with the person in the room and offering them acceptance and understanding. I love seeing my clients move from areas of hurt or pain toward areas of self-acceptance and understanding that give them freedom and breathing room in their lives.
What can clients expect?
Clients can take away a sense of being valued, understood, and supported in sessions with me. There will be a balance of ensuring the client is moving in the direction they want to go while also giving guidance, tools, and outside observations of the issues at hand. The client will feel like this is a teamwork effort where we build trust and collaboration with each other through the counseling process.
