Shannon has been in private practice since 2001. During that time, she has developed a style of working with clients that combine cognitive-behavioral, family systems, positive psychology, and trauma focus therapy. Her motto is “Meet the client where they are, to help them get where they want to go.” She works with adults with mood disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma, relationship issues, and family dynamics.

Shannon began her career working with Hope’s Door, a domestic violence shelter in Plano, TX. She also worked as the group facilitator for The Road to Recovery, a substance use treatment program. Shannon developed the CALM curriculum, which is a 12-week Anger Resolution Program. In 2008, Shannon and The CALM Program were featured in the MTV program True Life: I Need Anger Management. The CALM Program also received 2015 Best of Addison Award for Counseling. This program has helped many people resolve the underlying issues which contribute to anger, which results in people getting angry less often and with less intensity.

Shannon has also developed and facilitated a group for binge eating disorders called “Food for Thought.” This year-long program helps clients resolve the shame-based beliefs that drive disordered eating behavior.

Shannon’s current passion is working with victims of Narcissistic Abuse and educating clinicians, attorneys, physicians, and the general public on this insidious form of emotional abuse and its effects. She offers individual and group counseling for clients recovering from emotional abuse.
Shannon is a sought-after speaker and has presented at many local, regional, and national conferences. She speaks on many topics, including Trauma and Eating Disorders, Anger Resolution, Shame-based Identity, Stress Management, Building Resiliency, and Understanding Narcissistic Abuse. She provides CEU events for Mental Health Clinicians with the Best Practices CEU series. She co-authored the Books of Hope and Healing, which are affirmation books covering eating disorders, codependency, trauma recovery, substance abuse recovery, and for friends and family of clients in treatment.

Shannon is the past Secretary and President of the North Texas Chapter of EAPA (Employee Assistance Professionals Association). She currently sits on the Board of Dallas TAAP (Texas Association of Addiction Professionals) as the current President and will serve as President for the 2019-2020 term. Shannon is the 2017 recipient of the Sierra Tucson Gratitude for Giving Humility Award.

Shannon is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LIC # 17152) and has mentored associates since 2008. She is a National Certified Counselor and a CART Certified Anger Resolution Therapist.
