Bipolar Disorder

BIPOLAR DISORDER

If you ask me what bipolar disorder is, I shall come up with the definition given below;

Bipolar disorder is a mental state which affects your moods, making it swing from one extreme to another. It is also known as manic depression. As far as the symptoms are concerned, they are visible ones like depression, making you feel low and lethargic. It can also make you manic and overactive. The symptoms of bipolar disorder depend on the mood you are experiencing. Don’t get mistaken by simple mood swings, as an extreme episode of bipolar disorder can last for up to several weeks or longer.

Symptom 1: Depression

Patients dealing with this symptom are initially diagnosed with clinical depression, which later transforms into manic episodes. Years later, you may get diagnosed with bipolar disorder. During your episode of depression, you may experience overwhelming feelings or insignificant thoughts about yourself, which can gradually lead to suicidal thoughts. If you feel any of these, it is advised to connect to a health provider as soon as possible.

Symptom 2: Mania

During a manic phase of bipolar disorder, the patient may feel very happy, highly ambitious with loads of plans and ideas, and willing to spend lots of money. It is also common to lose your appetite, talking abruptly, and getting easily annoyed. There will be bouts of creativity, and you will consider this phase of bipolar disorder as highly productive. You may also experience some symptoms of neurosis where you hear or see things that are not there or are not valid.

How to Live With Bipolar Disorder?
